Common Features

Burn Navigator has adult and pediatric protocols which provide hourly fluid therapy recommendations.

  • Adult protocol - uses an advanced algorithm that learns how each patient's physiology is responding to fluid therapy each hour. The algorithm uses fluid trend data from three hours to predict the fluid rate for the next hour that will best achieve the urine output target range. The predictive, trend based recommendations enables precision medicine for severe burn resuscitation. This algorithmic approach can also reduce variability in care for patients.
  • Pediatric protocol - uses a weight-adjusted decision tree for increasing or decreasing fluids, or leaving the rate as is. The target is 1.0 - 1.5 mL/kg/hr urine output. Alerts are built into low and very high urine output. This protocol is indicated for patients weighing 10kg or more and 24 months old or older. For smaller, younger or kidney compromised patients, you can use Monitor-only mode for monitoring resuscitations.
  • Monitor only mode - allows you to collect data and display resuscitation graphs without hourly recommendations for very complex patients.

All Burn Navigators include resuscitation graphics: a Volume Graph with a 24 hour volume fluid projection, an Input and output I/O Graph, and an I/O Table. The I/O Table shows recommended rate versus actual rate each hour.

All Burn Navigators include non-responder detection and alerts, which recognize when patients are not responding to increasing fluid therapy and alert the user to consider other interventions.

All Burn Navigators are compatible with albumin protocols, include fluid non-responder alerts, are HIPAA compliant and provide resuscitation reports for quality improvement, training and research.
